WW2 Airfield near Plymouth, Devon
Very little remains to this day of the former WW2 Airfield on the edge of Dartmoor’s National Park, the former runway was made from the rubble of the Plymouth Blitz. Some of its past does remain, you just need to know where to look.
The airfields original control tower is still there and is part of a former Cafe, (closed a lot before national lockdown, guessing its closed fully now).
The top left image of the two above shows the view original crew of ther bomber planes would have seen, wondering if they will return home and in what state, will they be captured, tortured, killed or what, remember this is long before the internet and communications like we take for granted now.
